The Chronicle of Karguun · Chapter 12
Aid and Trade
Kingdom-mates may send each other gold, food, runes and soldiers. Aid arrives at once, but every shipment is weighed in a trade balance, and those who take far more than they give pay a tax on what they receive.
Sending aid
- From the Send Aid page you may send gold, food, runes and soldiers to any province of your kingdom. It arrives at once.
- A single shipment may be worth at most 4× your networth.
- A province still under the Elder Thrones' protection may not send aid.
The trade balance
Every shipment moves both provinces' trade balance, valued at:
| Goods | Value of each |
|---|---|
| Gold coin | 1 |
| Bushel of food | 0.1 |
| Rune | 5 |
| Soldier | 150 |
A little of every balance, 1% a day, is forgiven.
The tax
- Only receivers are taxed, and only once their deficit passes 4× their networth. The deeper the deficit, the higher the tax.
- A province that has lost more than 10% of its land in the last 48 days pays only half.
- Late in the age, provinces younger than 144 days pay none, so newcomers can be helped up.
Counsel
- Aid is best spent on a kingdom-mate who was hit hard and needs soldiers or food to recover, or on one whose economy feeds the kingdom's war.
- Ask on the Moot before sending: a kingdom that plans its aid wastes less of it to the tax.
