The Chronicle of Karguun · Chapter 3
Honour and Nobility
Honour is won in battle and makes you noble. Nobility raises your income, your population, your armies, your magic and your thieves, and gives you more votes in your kingdom. It is never spent, but it can be lost to those who defeat you.
Earning honour
- The first months. Every new province gains 5 honour a day for its first 160 days. Those who found their province late in the age start with 800 instead.
- Victory. A successful attack takes 2% of the defender's honour, less if the target is much smaller than you.
- War. Victories in war also create new honour, 1% of the loser's, on top of what is taken. But a long war wears it away: every month at war costs 1% of your honour.
- Endings. A kingdom that surrenders gives 5% of its honour to the victors; one that withdraws from a war it is winning gives up 1%.
The titles
Each title from Lord upward brings bonus steps. Each step adds 2% to your income and maximum population and 3% to your armies' attack, your magic and your thieves. From Count upward the steps come twice as fast.

Votes
Your title decides how many votes you cast for your kingdom's monarch: from 1 for a peasant to at most 10. See Kingdoms and their Monarchs.
Counsel
- Honour comes fastest from successful attacks on provinces about your own size. A province much smaller than you yields little honour and little land.
- Some personalities earn more: the War Hero's honour bonuses are half again as large.
